Underpinning Case Study

We recently finished underpinning a property on the Surf Coast that had cracking walls and sinking frontage. This was a beautiful property located in an amazing and popular area of the Surf Coast half an hour away from Geelong.

Issues

This property had two major issues. The back of the main house was cracking almost in half and the under side of the property (the basement area) had sinking stumps and land fill and flooding problems.

This was a big job requiring

  • Multiple foundation support holes dug and filled with concrete
  • Walls sealed
  • Decking replaced
  • Multiple steel stumps inserted to replace cement stumps that were crumbling
  • Excessive soil carted away by single wheel barrow due to access restrictions
  • Floor levelling with jacks in multiple locations
  • Concrete poured on two different dates to ensure stability
  • Rubbish removal and tidying the area

With jobs like these there are many smaller jobs to sort such as replacement of retainer walls, replastering and rendering of walls and general painting and finishing where necessary.

This also includes engineering inspections that require final approvals each step of the underpinning process.
